Solar- and photovoltaic Systems

The request: To provide health stations and other private and public institutions with energy through photovoltaic systems.

The sites are located in Micronesia and comprise 5 islands and approx. 30 atolls. The local conditions on the islands and atolls, as well as the relatively small demand of energy for the private households, schools and health centres, bring out an appropriate situation for the use of solar energy. Accordingly, a project for the installation of photovoltaic systems was approved, in order to provide primarily the health stations with electricity. The provision of the schools and private households resulted inevitably from this.

The project was a turn-key project, envisaging the supply and installation of solar power equipment in 12 un-electrified health centres on the outer islands and atolls. It was expected that the electrification would also play an important role for the positive development of the villages on the islands.

Realisation

Planning and construction by Boss Pro-Tec GmbH of several, individually different units. Then 2002 delivery of the material, distribution of the equipment within the archipelago, complete electrical installation and commissioning, quality check and training of the maintenance staff on site.

The capacity of the single solar systems lies at 1 - 1.5 kW per island. Powered are illuminations of different buildings, outdoor street lights, medical refrigerators, PV pumping systems for water supply to the health centres and public water supply, also radio and communication systems.

Scope of Delivery

Solar systems · Solar outdoor street lighting · Charging/discharging regulators · Batteries · Solar supply units for medical refrigerators
