Extinguishing system for coal mine in Kosovo im Kosovo

Support of coal mining by extinguishing equipment and fire fighting
When coal mining after a certain time and due the incidence of certain factors the lignite layers are endangered to inflame spontaneously. These combustions can hardly be put out and affect the security in the mines, devastate resources and also jeopardize the environment. To avoid this spontaneous ignition it is essential to keep the coal surface wet.
The mine operator intended to create a mixture of water and foam with a relatively low pump capacity, but highest possible water pressure in order to receive a fine and efficient vapour stream which can keep the coal banks wet and therefore burn-free.
The fire engine should be very mobile with all-terrain capacities, the water pump with cannon needs to be rotatable and its height adjustable.
The equipment will be used in an open pit mine in South Eastern Europe where the coal benches have a length of approx. 1000 m at a width of approx. 30 m.

Realisation

The contract was awarded to Boss Pro-Tec GmbH in September 2001, the supply and transport were executed in January 2002.
In February 2002 commissioning and training were provided by our professional fireman.

Scope of Delivery

We delivered a fire engine UNIMOG U 2100 with a special fire fighting body consisting of a water tank with approx. 5000 l and a foam tank with approx. 500 l capacity, both connected to a powerful diesel pump mounted on the rear with a capacity of 1000 l/min.
The pump is also operating a water cannon / roof monitor with a capacity of max. 400 l/min., range 80 m. The monitor is mounted on the cabin and can be operated from inside the cabin, either by the driver or the co-driver.
The base vehicle offers highest all-terrain capacities and is furthermore equipped with all necessary accessories, also for conventional operations.
The water tank can be filled directly from the water pipeline along the conveyor belts in the mine or from static tanks by using the pump.
